The Petzl Knee Ascent Clip is a component of a set of Mechanical Prusiks designed and manufactured by Petzl. Mechanical Prusiks are a replacement for Prusik knots traditionally used by arborists and climbers to control the length of the rope and their place on it, allowing the user to move around efficiently in a tree. These devices allow for greater control and precision while climbing, moving from the center to the end of branches, switching from ascending to descending, and moving across the tree by swinging (pendulums). These systems are easy to use, functioning very similarly to classic Prusik arrangements, and granting the user smooth, reliable movement up and down the rope. Friction in Petzl ZIGZAG systems is introduced and controlled by the recognizable chain of links through which the rope runs, making for intuitive and simple braking that can be controlled with precision. Along with the strap itself, the Knee Ascent Clip comes with a Petzl CROLL L Rope Clamp, a ventral rope clamp with a pinch opening, toothed cam and stainless steel construction for reliability in all conditions.
